Daniel Petrick (MARS-REERS '20), spent the summer in Prizren, Kosovo and published a piece with BalkanInsight about a small family boza business. Boza, an Ottoman-era fermented grain drink, is still popular in Turkey and parts of Southeast Europe and gained international attention in 2015 with the publishing of Orhan Pamuk's novel A Strangeness in My Mind, which follows an itinerant boza seller in Istanbul.

This particular boza business is the only specialty shop in Prizren. Daniel traces the history of boza and talks to the owner's son about his decision to continue the family "zanat," their traditional family craft.
