Andrey Kurkov was born in St. Petersburg in 1961 and now lives in Kyiv. After completing his studies at the Foreign Language Institute in Kyiv, he initially pursued a career in journalism. Kurkov's best-selling books include Death and the Penguin, and most recently The President's Last Love.
