Marshall D. Shulman Seminar Room (Room 1219 International Affairs Building 420 West 118th St.)

Please join the Ukrainian Studies Program at the Harriman Institute for a presentation by Dr. Mykhaylo Yakubovych, the National University of Ostroh Academy.

The Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 has prompted discussions about the religious and cultural rights of Crimean Tatars. More than 20,000 Crimean Tatars are reported to have left their homeland in the past two years. The activities of many cultural and religious institutions have been limited or completely banned, including the Mejlis, the most authoritative representative body of the Crimean Tatars. Yukubovych will discuss recent religious and cultural challenges for Crimean Tatars.

This event is free and open to the public.
