Please join the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU), New York Chapter and the Harriman Institute, Columbia University for a discussion with Igor Lukes, Professor of History & International Relations at the Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University. Moderated by Christopher Harwood, Lecturer in Czech and co-director of the East Central European Center at the Harriman Institute.

The electoral victory of Donald Trump in 2016 surprised many, including the winner, the vanquished, and the specialists. Almost four years later, bitterly divided citizens still struggle to understand what happened. Dr. Igor Lukes, Boston University, seeks to cast light on several lesser-known factors behind Trump’s victory four years ago, and elucidate the warning signs for the coming election.
