Please join us for the first in the seminar series Roma Peoples: Between Nations and Globalism. Introducing Roma Studies to Columbia University organized by the Roma Peoples Project in partnership with the Harriman Institute. This talk will feature Oana MihalacheVisiting Fulbright Researcher at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studes.

The Roma people are the largest ethnic minority in Europe, with sizable populations in the United States. Oana Mihalache will present on on imagined communities, the state, and its relevance to Roma identity and governance.

Oana Mihalache is a Visiting Fulbright Researcher at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studes at Columbia University. In her research, she is interested in military and humanitarian interventions that took place after the Cold War and their relation with the concept of sovereignty.
