The Spring 2020 issue of Harriman Magazine features a cover story by the the photographer Hope Herman Wurmfeld, whose exhibit documenting her 1964 road trip behind the Iron Curtain was mounted at the Harriman Institute this winter. It includes a profile of our alumnus Nate Schenkkan, who directs special research at Freedom House; an article by our current student Daniel Petrick, who reports on last year's Kurban Bajram celebration in Prizren, Kosovo; Mykola Riabchuk's essay about the blacklist in Ukraine; an interview about the politics of anti-LGBTQ propaganda in Russia and Ukraine with activists Yelena Goltsman and Bogdan Globa; an essay on 90s nostalgia in Russia by our postdoctoral research scholar Daria Ezerova; and an excerpt from Oksana Lutsyshyna's novel Ivan and Phoebe. Read the issue.
