Tuesday, January 28, 2020

Second-year Slavic graduate student Max Lawton published his translation of Vladimir Sorokin's "White Square" in the journal n+1 (no. 36, Winter 2020). In addition to a collection of Sorokin's short stories, entitled Red Pyramid, Lawton has translated Their Four Hearts, Blue Lard, and Telluria. Lawton spent Summer 2019 in Moscow finishing his translation of Blue Lard and meeting with Sorokin to discuss the text and immerse himself in Sorokin's hometown. His summer research trip was supported by a PepsiCo grant from the Harriman Institute.
