"After three weeks in Moscow, Chernenko dies, and Gorbachev comes to power. I remember being in my little dorm room ... there was a radio on the wall, and it was on all the time ... I remember them playing the classical music and making the announcement that Gorbachev would be the one who was chosen to organize the funeral services for Chernenko." Timothy Frye discusses being a student in Moscow when Gorbachev came to power for our oral history project. Each week we will highlight an interview from the project on our website and social media. Read Frye's interview
