On March 1, 2018, Yuri Shevchuk (Lecturer in Ukrainian) was the keynote speaker at the International Mother Language Day Event, which is traditionally held at United Nations New York headquarters. The event was organized by such NGOs as the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and others under the aegis of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine at the United Nations. Yuri Shevchuk's keynote address was entitled “Language and National Sovereignty in the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-20 and Today.“
