Amit is a member of the Indian Civil Services and has been a hands-on development practitioner over the last ten years with skills in crisis management, stakeholder management, contextual aspects among others. He’s seeking to further improvise and fine tune his skills through an ongoing MPA DP program at Columbia University in New York. The Harriman Institute Civil Society Graduate Fellowship assisted him to pursue a summer internship with Stabilization Support Services (SSS), a Canadian non-governmental organization that endeavours to build, alongside the state, the capacity to address the consequences of conflict while ensuring that human rights, gender equality and the protection of vulnerable persons are upheld. The internship made him part of a network of liaison officers (‘Radnyki’, in Ukrainian), working with government bodies across various regions in Ukraine to advise national and local government bodies regarding the needs of conflict-affected populations, particularly IDPs.
