Natalie focuses on Central Asia, including the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. She spent the summer of 2021 learning Kazakh at UW-Madison’s CESSI Program on a Title VIII Fellowship. Previously, she worked at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Eurasia Foundation in Washington, DC, and lived in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Her interests include transnational repression, national identity, historical memory, national security, and the proliferation of Chinese technology in the region.
