Please join the Harriman Institute for a bilingual event which will celebrate recent work by poet-translators Inna Krasnoper, Tatiana Krasilnikova, and Venya Gushchin. Work will include original poetry in English, in Russian, translingual and multimedia poetry, and translations between.
Inna Krasnoper is a Berlin-based poet, artist, and literary translator. She graduated from the Chto Delat Collective School of Engaged Art in Saint Petersburg and holds a BA in Dance, Context, Choreography from University of the Arts in Berlin. Her Russophone poetry collections include “Нитки торчат” (Loose Threads), published by the Voznesensky Center in 2021, and “Дорогой человек” (Dear Person), published by NLO in 2024. Her first English-language poetry collection “dis tanz” was published by Veliz Books in 2025.
Tatiana Krasilnikova is a poet and a scholar born in Nizhny Novgorod. Her Russian-language poetry has appeared in “DOXA,” “F-pismo,” “ROAR,” “Flagi,” “Artikulyatsiya,” “sad girls times,” “galo,” “post(non)fiction” and elsewhere. Her debut poetry collection is forthcoming from Poryadok Slov in 2025. She is currently a PhD Candidate at Columbia University, where she studies feminist experimental poetry. Her academic work includes co-authoring a book on the poetic language of early Pasternak published in 2021. She also cares for Limoncella, a lemon tree, in an apartment with north-facing windows.
Venya Gushchin is a poet, literary translator, and PhD Candidate at Columbia University, defending a dissertation on the late styles of Russian modernist poets. His translations of Vladimir Mayakovsky and Elizaveta Mnatasakanova have received the Columbia University Slavic Department Pushkin Prize. “Blockade Swallow,” selected poems by Olga Berggolts translated by Gushchin, appeared from Smokestack Books in 2022. Most recently, his translation of Yevsey Tseytlin’s “Rereading Silence” was published by Bagriy & Company. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in “The Rumpus”; “Action, Spectacle”; “Midway Journal”; “No, Dear”; and elsewhere.
