Please join Columbia University’s Human Rights Advocate Program (HRAP) fellows Imani Kimri and Amir Mukambetov for a discussion on countering anti-LGBTIQ+ legislation in Kyrgyzstan and Kenya. Co-sponsored by the SIPA Eurasian Student Association, the Harriman Institute, the Human Rights Working Group, and Spectrum.

Imani Kimri (they/them) is the Head of Legal Affairs at the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC). Imani passionately champions equality for sexual and gender minorities by promotion and protection of equality and inclusion in policies and laws of LGBTIQ+ individuals in Kenya.

Amir Mukambetov (he/they) is the Chair of the Board of the Grassroots Organization Kyrgyz Indigo. Amir oversees Kyrgyz Indigo’s overall strategic direction by promoting queer-friendly laws and opposing bills that discriminate against the LGBTIQ+ community.
