Europe is facing its most serious security crisis in decades. Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine remains the greatest threat to European peace and stability. Despite diplomatic efforts to reach a just peace, Russia continues pursuing its aim of dismantling Ukraine and rearranging Europe’s security. The Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs will explore how Europe must respond.
Minister Margus Tsahkna assumed office as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia in April 2023. Having started his career in local politics in 2002, Margus Tsahkna was a member of the 11th, 12th (2007-15) and 13th (2017-2019) Riigikogu and has held several ministerial positions: Minister of Defence (2016-17) and Minister of Social Protection (2015-16). Minister Tsahkna has also worked in the private sector in the field of war and disaster medicine. Minister Tsahkna has studied theology and religious studies, and international law.
