Conference. Women and the Silent Screen XI: Women, Cinema, and World Migration

For 22 years, Women and the Silent Screen, a biennial international conference sponsored by Women and Film History International, has brought together researchers focused on women’s pivotal roles in the first decades of motion picture history. WSS has supported the creation of a new view of the film industries that demonstrates the centrality of women in economic and labor history, criticism, aesthetics, narrative development, film culture, and film production in a globalized world.

Join us for a meeting of the New York-Russia Public Policy Series, co-hosted by the Harriman Institute at Columbia University and the New York University Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia. With the war having entered a new phase with most fighting focused in the Donbas, we will discuss with military experts what comes next. With speakers Andrea Kendall-Taylor (Center for a New American Security), Michael Kofman (CNA; Kennan Institute), Kadri Liik (European Council on Foreign Relations), and Olga Oliker (International Crisis Group). Moderated by Timothy Frye (Columbia University) and Joshua Tucker (New York University).
