Mark Pomar (Russian Institute ’76; Ph.D. Slavic Languages ’78; member Harriman National Advisory Council) was interviewed on Radio Liberty about his forthcoming book Cold War Radio: The Russian Broadcasts of the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (University of Nebraska Press, Oct. 2022). The interview, conducted in Russian, discusses finding ways out of Cold War deadlocks and new facts about Trotsky’s murder. Pomar served in senior positions at VOA and RFE/RL from 1982 to 1993, during which time the Reagan and Bush administrations made VOA and RFE/RL an important part of their foreign policy.
