Éva Fodor
István Deák Visiting Professor (Spring 2027)
Éva Fodor is Professor of Gender Studies at Central European University, where she also serves as Pro-Rector for Teaching and Learning and as a Research Fellow at the CEU Democracy Institute. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles and works in the field of comparative social inequalities and comparative welfare regimes, with a particular focus on how gender differences in labor markets are shaped, renegotiated, and reproduced across different societies and social contexts.
Her recent book, The Gender Regime of Anti-Liberal Hungary (Palgrave Pivot, 2022, open access) examines the evolution of gender relations and gender inequalities in Hungary since 2010. From September 2027, she will be the PI of an ERC Advanced Grant titled CAREFARE, which will study and compare the nature and consequences of pronatalist care regimes in Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Italy.
