István Deák (1926-2023)

István Deák was born in Hungary in 1926. He left the country in 1948 to study history at the Sorbonne in Paris and worked as a journalist and librarian in both France and Germany. Since 1956, he has resided in New York City, where he studied modern European history at Columbia University. His interests span World War II European history and Central and East European history.
