Madison is a scholar of Central and Eastern European and Russian affairs, specializing in international relations and security studies. She studied at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw as part of her undergraduate study abroad program and has written extensively on energy security, information warfare, and other defense issues in outlets such as Small Wars Journal, DefenseOne, and the International Affairs Review. She has served as a research assistant at the National Defense University- College of Information and Cyberspace, the Naval History and Heritage Command, and to Dr. Kaija Schilde, an expert in European security. Madison currently serves as a writer and editor for the SEA STATE newsletter, an outlet geared towards junior officers and midshipmen in the Naval services.
