Pavel Kanygin

Pavel Kanygin began his professional career at the Moscow daily Moskovskyi Komsomolets and later joined the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta as a staff writer. Among other reporting assignments, he has served as his newspaper’s special envoy in Kiev, Crimea, Odessa and Donbas. While at Harriman, Mr. Kanygin analyzed aspects of the U.S. presidential election campaign and participated on a joint Harriman Institute-Columbia Journalism School panel entitled, “Image Crafting and the Role of the Media in Presidential Campaigns in the U.S. and Russia.”
