Richard Wortman is Bryce Professor Emeritus of European Legal History (Modern Europe). His interests include Russian institutional, cultural, and intellectual history, with a focus on the history of imperial Russia. His major books include the award-winning Scenarios of Power: Myth and Ceremony in Russian Monarchy. Volume One: From Peter the Great to the Death of Nicholas I (Princeton University Press, 1995) and the second volume of the work, From Alexander II to the Abdication of Nicholas II (Princeton University Press, 2000).
