Stefan Szwed
Marie Curie Global Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Stefan Szwed is Marie Curie Global Fellow at the Harriman Institute and Ca’Foscari University of Venice. His research project, “Democracy Support Practice After the Third Wave: Adapting to Change?” focuses on the effectiveness of election observation by intergovernmental and international nongovernmental organizations. He was re:constitution Fellow in Rule of Law and Democracy (2020-2021) at International IDEA in Stockholm and European University Institute in Florence, and previously Research Associate at the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford (2011-21) and Mairie de Paris postdoc fellow at the Centre de recherches internationales (CERI) at Sciences Po (2014-15). He regularly serves as political analyst or deputy head on election observation missions with leading organizations globally, including OSCE/ODIHR, EU and NDI . He has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and both an M.Phil. in European Politics and D.Phil. (doctorate) in International Relations from Oxford (St. Antony’s College).
