Rebecca Kobrin (Russell and Bettina Knapp Associate Professor of American Jewish History) contributed the essay “The Bank of United States, East European Jews and The Lost World Of Immigrant Banking” to the Gotham Center for New York City History Blog. Kobrin shows that panic runs on the Bank of United States precipitated larger banking crises which eventually led to the Great Depression.
