Yuri Shevchuk Interviewed about His New “Ukrainian-English Collocation Dictionary”

Yuri Shevchuk (Lecturer, Ukrainian) was interviewed by the Kyiv newspaper Den (Day), on the occasion of the publication of his Ukrainian-English Collocation Dictionary. In the extended interview Shevchuk discussed the past and the current state of Ukrainian language pedagogy in U.S. universities, how his dictionary can be used by learners of various levels of language proficiency from elementary to superior, the challenges of compiling his dictionary, and how it reflects contemporary Ukrainian culture, why Ukrainian culture should be thought of as a global culture, developed not only on the Ukrainian mainland but in the diaspora, how the language situation in Ukraine affects enrollment in the Ukrainian language courses in U.S. colleges, and other issues.
