The soldiers of the Donbas Volunteer Battalion are at the center of this war drama inspired by real-life events. Two Ukrainian fighters who volunteered to repel the foreign aggression against their homeland are trying to get out of the Russian-surrounded Ilovaisk, a city in southwestern Ukraine. Taras Kostanchuk, call sign "Beshoot", was a real-life commander of a storm brigade in the Donbas battalion, and plays himself, the protagonist of the film.
Ivan Tymchenko was born into a family of artists and cinematographers. From his early childhood he used to spend all his holidays on sets. When he was older, he began work as a photojournalist and advertising photographer, then continued on to become a cinematographer and film director. He served as director and DOP for many of his own works, including TVCs and short films. Beshoot is his debut feature film.
Svitlana Soloviova is an experienced producer with fifteen years of experience in film, TV and TVC in Ukraine. She is a founder of Svetofor Film, which has been credited in works with industry giants such as BBC, MTV, and ZDF/Arte.
