In order to express its solidarity with Ukraine, fighting an unprovoked and illegitimate war of aggression by the Russian Federation, the Russian Film Club of Columbia University will screen the 2014 Ukrainian war drama The Guide directed by Oles Sanin, introduced by Professor Yuri I. Shevchuk (Harriman Institute). Discussion to follow. This event is part of our Contemporary Culture Series.

An American boy Peter Shamrock travels to Ukraine with his father in the early 1930s, only to be thrown into one of the greatest cataclysms in the twentieth-century Ukrainian and European history. Inspired by real life events.
