Please join the Njegoš Endowment for Serbian Language and Culture and the East Central European Center at the Harriman Institute for a screening and discussion of “Walter Defends Sarajevo.” This event is part of the conference Revolutionary Yugoslavia: Partisan Art, Archives and Film, the inaugural symposium of the New York Chapter of the New Yugoslav Studies Association.

This 1972 Yugoslav partisan film, directed by Hajrudin Krvavac and starring Bata Živojinović, Ljubiša Samardžić and Rade Marković, centers around a mysterious figure named ‘Walter’, who is actively disrupting the attempts of German commander Alexander Löhr to retreat from the Balkans.
