Please join the Harriman Institute for a discussion with Victoria Lomasko. Moderated by Keith Gessen.
During this presentation, Victoria Lomasko will explain the book’s structure and discuss her trips to Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, and also the North Caucasus, Dagestan, and Ingushetia. She will also discuss the conflict between generations in the Post-Soviet Space, between those who grew up in the USSR and the young generations, and the hopes to to serve as a bridge between them. “The Last Soviet Artist” was awarded by 2022 Free Voice award from PEN Catalan and Le Courage Artistique, Festival de BD d’Angoulême.
Victoria Lomasko was born in Serpukhov, Russia in 1978. An artist and journalist, Lomasko is the author of “The Last Soviet Artist,” “Other Russias” (n+1 Books, 2017) and the coauthor of “Forbidden Art.” Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows in Europe and in the United States.
