This event has been postponed; new date TBA.

Please join the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School and the Harriman Institute for a panel discussion concerning the question of how reporters and newsrooms continue to function and report (or not) in times of crisis. Moderated by Joel Simon, Fellow at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism and the Knight First Amendment Institute. Panelists TBA.

Newsrooms and reporters increasingly rely on digital infrastructure to function and share vital information with the world. When this infrastructure may no longer be available during periods of crisis and active warfare reporters and organizations have to get creative to keep things running and information flowing.

This panel will explore the ways that journalists in different settings have been able to circumvent and overcome the challenges of reporting in risky environments. Along with what technologies old and new are being utilized to keep access to information open and accurate.
