Orhan Babakurban (M.A. Political Science) has created the Edward A. Allworth Memorial website as a tribute to Allworth (1920-2016), Professor Emeritus of Turco-Soviet Studies at Columbia University. Apart from his many publications and scholarly contributions, Allworth was founding director at Columbia of both the Program on Soviet Nationality Problems (1970) and the Center for the Study of Central Asia (1984). The Allworth Memorial site presents an extensive photo gallery of Allworth’s life and career. Babakurban attended Allworth’s seminar on Central Asia in the early 1990s. He invites contributions of documents, photographs and videos relevant to Allworth’s legacy.
