“Do You Need This War?” an interview with Leonid Svets (journalist based in Kyiv and a longtime commentator on Ukrainian politics) was published by n+1. Keith Gessen (George T. Delacorte Assistant Professor of Magazine Journalism) and Svets discuss the current situation in Kyiv and Kharkiv as well as Ukrainian politics and the background behind the current conflict.
When Gessen asks Svets “Are you thinking of leaving?” Svets replies, “First of all, once they declared the state of emergency, men between the ages of 18 and 60 couldn’t leave the country. But also I don’t want to.”
