Madison Sargeant (’22) on EU Security for Inkstick
February 2, 2022

Madison Sargeant (MARS-REERS ’22) coauthored an article with Nick Lokker for Inkstick on the impact of the European Union’s identity as a non-military power on the security of its member states.

“While the EU can wield its economic and technological influence to manage power shifts and security threats, its shortcomings when it comes to defense undermine its global position. The Union’s stubborn tendency to view itself predominantly as a normative power has hindered its ability to integrate defense capabilities at the supranational level,” write the authors.
