Ian is a second-year Harriman student from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has interests in ethnicity, language, identity, and human rights in Eurasia. His main area of research is looking at the similarities and differences in democratization, nationalism, and national identity development in Ukraine and Taiwan. He is more broadly interested in the parallels and relationship between Eurasia and East Asia and hopes to pursue a career in human rights, humanitarian activism, or policy.
