Leo Levine’s academic interests include Soviet history, EU-Russia relations, authoritarianism in Belarus, and the use to history (especially the history of the Great Patriotic War) as a propaganda tool in modern-day Russia and Belarus. While at McGill University, he compared Soviet and modern history textbooks, analyzing their role in the legitimization of authoritarian regimes. In 2020, Leo created an educational program for children aged 12-13, teaching them about the history of the Holocaust in Belarus.
