Ziqian Zheng (he/him/his) is a Ph.D. candidate in International and Global History at Columbia, where he studies the global Cold War, Sino-Eastern Bloc knowledge transfers, and the history of foreign trade and transportation infrastructures. His dissertation, Bridging Communist Eurasia: Eastern Bloc and the Development of China’s Global Trading Networks, 1945–1961, examines how Communist China established and reorganized foreign trade infrastructures through collaboration with the Soviet Union and Poland during the long 1950s. Ziqian served as one of the co-convenors of the International History Workshop (2024-2026), co-president of the Graduate History Association (2025-2026), and is an active participant in the Europe/Russia/Soviet Union Workshop and other Harriman-sponsored events.
