Sophie Pinkham (MARS-REERS ’12; Ph.D. Slavic ’19) was interviewed by Merve Emre for the series “The Critic and Her Publics,” a collaboration between LitHub and the New York Review of Books. After describing her journey from undergraduate English major to Russian and Ukrainian Studies and then a career as a literary critic, Emre and Pinkham critique two translations of Osip Mandelstam’s “Black Earth.”
