Adelina Stulen is a first-year Ukrainian MARS-REERS student at the Harriman Institute. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Qatar, where she majored in International Politics and minored in Arabic. Her undergraduate honors thesis examined Russia’s strategies, political motivations, and regional implications in creating and sustaining so-called “frozen conflict zones” in the Black Sea region, comparing the experiences of Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. Her previous experience includes research internships at analytical institutions in Ukraine and Qatar, as well as a political affairs internship at the Ukrainian Embassy in Qatar. During her studies at Harriman, Adelina aims to deepen her research on Russia’s geopolitical strategy towards the region of Eastern Europe. She hopes to pursue a career in policy research and analysis, developing regional expertise to prepare recommendations that strengthen the resilience and security of countries facing Russian hybrid threats.
